Important information about using our website, and purchasing products and services from us. These terms, amended by us from time to time, should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

Using Our Website

If you choose to use our website, you are agreeing to comply with and be bound by the following terms, which govern our relationship with you in relation to our website. If you disagree with any part of these terms, please do not use our website.

  • The content of our website is for your general information and use only. It is subject to change without notice

  • When you visit our website we use a third party service, Squarespace Analytics, to collect standard information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out such things as the number of visitors to our website, their geographic location, and to monitor the performance of our website. This information is only processed in a way that does not personally identify anyone. If we do collect personal data through our website, we will make it clear to you and explain what we intend to do with it

  • Neither we nor any third parties provide any warranty or guarantee as to the accuracy, timeliness, performance, completeness or suitability of the information and materials found or offered on our website for any particular purpose. You acknowledge that such information and materials may contain inaccuracies or errors and we expressly exclude liability for any such inaccuracies or errors to the fullest extent permitted by law

  • Your use of any information or materials on our website is entirely at your own risk, for which we shall not be liable. It is your responsibility to ensure that any products, services or information available through our website meet your specific requirements

  • Our website may contain material which is owned by or licensed to us. This material may include, but is not limited to, the design, layout, look, appearance, logo, photography and graphics. Reproduction is prohibited other than in accordance with the copyright notice, which forms part of these terms

  • All trade marks reproduced on our website which are not the property of, or licensed to, the operator are acknowledged on our website

  • Unauthorised use of our website content may give rise to a claim for damages and / or be a criminal offence

  • Our website may include links to other websites. These links are provided for your convenience and for further information. They do not indicate our endorsement of the website(s). We have no responsibility for the content of the linked website(s)

  • Our website is operated and controlled from the United Kingdom and these terms and your use of our website are governed by and construed in accordance with the law of Scotland

Purchasing Our Products and Services

When you purchase products and services from us, you agree to, and are bound by, the following terms:

Age Restrictions

You must be aged 18 years or over to purchase a monthly membership subscription or tickets for classes and events.

By purchasing these products and services from us, you agree to provide your date of birth during the checkout process. Following your purchase, should we find that you are under the age of 18 and / or you have provided false or misleading information, we will immediately cancel your membership and / or tickets, and you will not be permitted to attend our classes or events. Any refunds offered will be in accordance with our cancellation terms detailed below.

We reserve the right to request proof of age when you attend classes or events, and to refuse entry should you be under the age of 18.

Payment and Fees

Payment for all products and services must be made in full and in advance using our online shop. Payment must be made by debit or credit card and / or gift voucher. We do not accept card, cash or gift voucher payments in-person, or payment in arrears.

All payments must be made in GB Pounds Sterling. You are responsible for paying any currency conversion fees or other costs incurred when making payment, or when receiving a refund.

We reserve the right to refuse entry to any classes or events if you have not paid all fees due.

Cancellations By You

You may cancel any products or services you have purchased through our online shop within 14 days and receive a refund:

  • For monthly membership subscriptions which automatically renew each month, the 14 day cancellation period begins on the date you first purchased your subscription

  • Should you cancel your monthly membership subscription within the 14 day cancellation period, but you have attended classes, you will receive a partial refund deducting the cost of all classes you attended, whether in full or in part

  • Should you cancel your monthly membership subscription outwith the 14 day cancellation period, you will not receive a refund, whether in full or in part, for any remaining time between the date of your cancellation and your previously scheduled future renewal date

  • Should you cancel a class or event ticket within the 14 day cancellation period, but you have attended the class or event, whether in full or in part, you will not receive a refund

  • Should you cancel a gift voucher purchase within the 14 day cancellation period, but the gift voucher balance has been used, whether in full or in part, you will not receive a refund

Cancellations By Us

From time to time, we may need to cancel classes or events where circumstances beyond our control prevent us from delivering them. In such cases:

  • We will endeavour to provide you with as much notice as possible

  • We may offer to transfer you to another class or event

  • We may offer you a full or partial refund

If you have a monthly membership subscription, you will not receive a refund for classes cancelled by us, unless there has been a significant volume of cancellations. In such cases, and where it is feasible for us to do so, we may offer alternative classes, a discount, or a partial refund as compensation. This will be at our sole discretion.

If you have a class ticket, you will not receive a refund for classes cancelled by us, unless there has been a significant volume of cancellations that prevent you from using the ticket within the 3 month redemption period. In such cases, and where it is feasible for us to do so, we may offer an extension to the ticket redemption period, or a refund as compensation. This will be at our sole discretion.

Any refunds offered will be for the full or partial cost of the product or service you have purchased from us only. We are not responsible for, and will not refund, any costs incurred by you related to travel, accommodation or any other expenses.

We also reserve the right to cancel any products and services you have purchased from us if you are in breach of these terms and / or our safety standards and rules. In such cases, you will not receive a refund unless you are within the 14 day cancellation period.

Refund Processing

All refunds will be processed back to the original debit or credit card used at the point of purchase. Any purchases made using a gift voucher will be refunded as a gift voucher balance, and cannot be refunded as cash. We will not provide refunds by any other means.

Depending on your card issuer and / or circumstances beyond our control, it may take up to 14 days to receive your refund once we have processed it.

Our Right to Make Changes

We reserve the right to make necessary and reasonable changes to advertised class and event descriptions, timetables and locations. We also reserve the right to change the availability of our products and services. If we need to make changes, we will amend the relevant information on our website, and if appropriate, we may also contact you.

Should we stop offering a product or service that was previously advertised, which you purchased but have not yet redeemed, and which is still valid and / or within its redemption period, we will either:

  • Honour your purchase by delivering the product or service, if we are able to do so

  • Offer you an alternative product or service with a similar value, if appropriate

  • Provide you with a full refund

From time to time, and at our sole discretion, we may need to change the price of our products and services. If you are maintaining a monthly membership subscription that will be affected by a price change, we will provide you with at least 30 days notice prior to the change taking place. If you have already purchased tickets for classes and / or events which will be affected by a price change, we will honour the original price you paid for the ticket(s), but any future tickets purchased will be for the updated price as advertised.

Monthly Membership Subscriptions

Monthly membership subscriptions provide unlimited access to standard Black Boar classes only. Access to additional activities outwith our standard timetable, such as special workshops and / or events, are not included in the subscription fee and must be purchased separately, unless we advise otherwise.

Monthly membership subscriptions must be purchased by the person who is becoming a Black Boar member. It cannot be purchased on behalf of someone else, and cannot be transferred to another person. We cannot setup your subscription on your behalf.

When purchasing a monthly membership subscription, you will be required to create an account on our website. You are responsible for maintaining your subscription, which can be done by logging into your account. This includes:

  • Keeping your personal information up to date

  • Keeping your payment details up to date

  • Cancelling your membership, should you choose to do so

Monthly membership subscriptions will automatically renew each month, on or around the original purchase date. There is no minimum term for subscriptions and they can be cancelled at any time.

If you wish to change your renewal date, we are unable to do this on your behalf, and you must cancel your subscription and purchase it again on the specific date you would like it to renew each month.

Monthly membership subscriptions cannot be paused. If you no longer wish to keep your subscription active, even for a short duration, you must cancel it by logging into your account.

If you have forgotten your account password, we do not have access to this information and cannot change your password on your behalf. You must follow the forgotten password instructions on our website in order to reset it.

Class Tickets

Each class ticket provides access to one standard Black Boar class, for one person only. They cannot be used for entry to activities outwith our standard timetable, such as special workshops and / or events, which are charged separately and have their own ticket fee.

Class tickets are intended for:

  • Beginners attending their first class

  • New students who have been attending classes for less than a month

  • Special guests or visitors attending a limited number of classes

Class tickets do not entitle you to our members only benefits, regardless of the amount of tickets purchased or the length of time you have been purchasing them. If you are attending classes regularly, we recommend that you setup a monthly membership subscription. This will provide you with the aforementioned members only benefits, and potentially save you money.

Class tickets must be purchased by the person who will be attending the class. They cannot be purchased on behalf of someone else, and cannot be transferred to another person.

Tickets are not linked to specific class dates and can be used at any time, but they must be redeemed within 3 months of purchase otherwise they will expire. As an example, and for the avoidance of doubt, if you purchased a class ticket on 15th January 2024 you would need to have redeemed it by 15th April 2024.

After the 3 month redemption period, you will not be able to use expired tickets to attend our classes. We will not refund you for any unused tickets, regardless of the reason, unless you are within the 14 day cancellation period.

Event Tickets

Event tickets must be purchased by the person who will be attending the event. They cannot be purchased on behalf of someone else, and cannot be transferred to another person.

Event tickets can only be redeemed for the specific event advertised. You cannot transfer your ticket to an alternative event, or carry over your ticket to a future occurrence of the event. We will not refund you for any unused tickets, regardless of the reason, unless you are within the 14 day cancellation period.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, ticket fees are for entry to the event only, and do not include transport, accommodation or food costs, or any other expenses incurred by you in order to facilitate your attendance.

Event participants can only engage in free play activities with the express approval of our instructors / event facilitators. Beginners and / or spectators are not permitted to engage in free play activities under any circumstances.

Unless explicitly stated otherwise, event participants must provide their own appropriate safety equipment and weapons, suitable for the weapon style being practiced. All equipment and weapons must be in good working order, and sharp weapons are not permitted for use under any circumstances. Where limited Black Boar school kit is available, this will be provided on a first come first served basis and we cannot guarantee availability.

Some events may have unique eligibility criteria, such as by invitation only, and we will only allow entry to these events for those who are eligible. Tickets for these events will not be advertised or available for sale on our public facing online shop. If you dishonestly purchase a ticket for an event you are not eligible for, we will cancel the ticket and you will not be permitted to attend. In such cases, you will not receive a refund unless you are within the 14 day cancellation period.

Gift Vouchers

Gift vouchers can be purchased by anyone, and have no expiry date. They are only available as digital products, and will be emailed to the person who made the purchase. We are unable to provide physical vouchers, and cannot send digital vouchers to the intended recipient on your behalf, you must email the voucher or print a copy and give it to the recipient yourself.

To use a gift voucher, the recipient must apply their unique voucher code during the checkout process on our online shop. Gift vouchers are valid for class and / or event tickets only, for the price advertised at the point of voucher redemption, and cannot be used against a monthly membership subscription.

All gift voucher balances will be in GB Pounds Sterling only, and cannot be converted to other currencies or exchanged for cash, whether in full or in part. If the gift voucher balance does not fully cover the cost of the product or service being purchased, the remaining amount due must be paid by debit or credit card during the checkout process on our online shop. If the cost of the product or service being purchased is less than the gift voucher balance, the remaining amount will be retained as a credit, which can be used towards the cost of another product or service until the full gift voucher balance is used.

As noted previously, we reserve the right to make changes including, at our sole discretion, the price and / or availability of our products and services. This may include changing the value of advertised gift vouchers, or removing gift voucher products from sale. In such cases, we will honour any vouchers previously purchased, for the original value, which will still be redeemable during the checkout process on our online shop.

Gift vouchers can only be redeemed by someone who is aged 18 years or over. We will not refund you for any unused vouchers, regardless of the reason, unless you are within the 14 day cancellation period.

Promotional Discounts

From time to time, and at our sole discretion, we may offer promotional discounts for our products and services. Typically, this requires a promotional code to be entered during the checkout process on our online shop.

Promotional discounts may have criteria and conditions attached to them, such as:

  • Being valid for a limited time period

  • Being restricted to one use per customer

  • Only redeemable by a specific audience

  • Only redeemable for specific products and services

  • Limited quantity available for redemption

If you have received a promotional discount offer, you must adhere to all relevant criteria and conditions. You must claim the promotional discount according to any instructions given, and at the time of purchasing any relevant products and services. We will not apply promotional discounts to your purchases retrospectively.

If you try to redeem a promotional discount and find that it does not work, this indicates it is no longer available.

We are under no obligation to provide you with a promotional discount that you forgot to apply at the checkout, that has expired, that you are not eligible for, that is not applicable to the products and services you are trying to purchase and / or that has reached the maximum redemption quantity.

If you dishonestly use a promotional discount that you are not eligible for and / or is in breach of the relevant criteria and conditions, we reserve the right to cancel any products and services you purchased using the promotional discount.
